CRVS Journalism Training: Training journalists in the use of CRVS data for impactful storytelling (24-25 June 2025)

As data become more prevalent and accessible, good reporting on civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) – at the community, national, and global levels – requires journalists who can:

  • understand and publicize the importance of functioning CRVS systems as a government responsibility;
  • understand CRVS data and appreciate trends and patterns in the data; and
  • communicate findings about CRVS and from CRVS data to their audience clearly, succinctly, and accurately.

The training is designed for journalists who wish to increase their capacity to use CRVS data to support and enrich their work. It focusses on improving journalists’ abilities to source, understand, and translate relevant data into rich and compelling stories and to evaluate government public health claims using CRVS data.

Conference of donors supporting civil registration and vital statistics improvements in Asia and the Pacific (27 June 2025)

The donor conference is designed to ensure donors are aware of the outcomes of the Third Ministerial Conference on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific and provides an opportunity to align donors’ activities in the area of CRVS, often within sectoral specific support to civil registration, health, statistics and digitalization. The conference will also provide opportunities for donors involved in supporting government systems (e.g. social protection programs) that benefit from fully functional, complete, and digitized civil registration systems, to discuss how their interventions could link to national civil registration systems for efficiency gains.

The conference aims to:

  • Create awareness of the important role of donors in the significant CRVS improvements made during the CRVS Decade
  • Identify current funding priorities, strategies and approaches
  • Agree on how to align activities with the priorities and identify any funding gaps
  • Raise awareness about the value of investments in CRVS systems to accompany a wide range of development efforts
