  • Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Inequality Assessments

    The Ministerial Declaration on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific emphasizes the need to address CRVS inequalities among hard-to-reach and marginalized populations, promoting universality and equity in civil registration regardless of factors such as gender, religion, or ethnicity. Countries are encouraged to conduct assessments to assess where such inequalities may exist.

Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop on Implementing Guidance on Inclusive CRVS Systems with a Focus on Forced Displacement, Statelessness and Children on the Move

The workshop, held on 18 - 21 March 2024 in Bangkok, was a joint initiative between the United Nations ESCAP, the Expert Group on Refugee, IDP and Statelessness Statistics (EGRISS), International Data Alliance for Children on the Move (IDAC), UNICEF and UNHCR.

National Closing Workshop: Capacity Building for the Project on Assessing Inequalities in Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in the Philippines

The closing national capacity building workshop is continuing from the previous workshop, which was designed based on the needs of the country and aligned with the project’s objective to build skills in analyzing data to assess inequalities in the registration of births and deaths. 

The topics for discussion in the closing workshop will be: 

National Capacity Building Workshop on Using Demographic and CRVS-Related Data and Evidence to Inform Policy and Strategic Programming in Lao PDR

In 2022, Lao PDR embarked on a project to conduct a CRVS-related inequality assessment, through technical and capacity strengthening in demographic skills.  Through a partnership with Lao Statistics Bureau (LSB) and UNFPA Lao PDR, two capacity building workshops were organized and attended by delegates from ministries engaged in the CRVS system.&nbsp

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are often amongst the most vulnerable people on this planet, having been forced to flee their homes due to a number of natural or man-made causes.

With the development of the International Recommendations on IDP Statistics (IRIS), the international statistical community is aiming to make IDPs fully visible in official statistics.
