The Ministerial Declaration on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific emphasizes the need to address CRVS inequalities among hard-to-reach and marginalized populations, promoting universality and equity in civil registration regardless of factors such as gender, religion, or ethnicity. Countries are encouraged to conduct assessments to assess where such inequalities may exist.

UNHCR, in collaboration with the Organization of American States, has published a report on "Emergency response by civil registry and identification offices during the COVID-19 pandemic: Impact, best practices and innovative initiatives implemented in Latin America and the Caribbean".
To promote the launch of the CRVS Improvement Framework, ESCAP and Vital Strategies have published a blog. Recognizing that Asia and the Pacific has seen significant progress toward the shared vision that all people will benefit from universal and responsive CRVS systems, it also points to the shortfalls in this progress.
Halfway through the Asian and Pacific Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Decade (2015-2024), many countries in the Asia-Pacific region are yet to achieve universal civil registration. This is due in part to the complicated registration processes requiring families to make multiple visits to different offices to register vital events.
